Ontario’s Legislative Building with its distinctive exterior pink sandstone quarried from the Credit Valley, was officially opened in 1893, after six years of construction. Its architectural design is characterized by the heavy stonework, rounded archways, domed towers and detailed carvings. Inside, the building features cast iron columns with detailing, oak floors and paneling and inner walls constructed with over 10 million bricks. The Legislative Chamber is lined with beautiful wood carvings, and the walls and ceiling painted with murals.

The guided tour of Ontario’s historic Legislative Building will explore the beautiful architectural features, provide a history of Ontario’s Parliament, and end with a viewing from the Public Gallery of the Legislature’s “Question Period”, with the Legislature scheduled to return from winter break that week.
