About the event

This year's Auto Tour will be a self driving event, foregoing the usual backroads “follow the leader” scenic tour format. Instead, participants can use Highway 401 or 407 and carpool directly to Oshawa. Sunday was selected to minimize traffic congestion. We'll meet in the parking lot of the Parkwood Estate, 270 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa L1G 4T5 at 9:45 on Sunday morning and take a private, guided “Auto Baron” tour of the main floor of the mansion beginning at 10:00 am.

Parkwood National Historic Site is the mansion and gardens of the late Sam McLaughlin, Canadian auto baron and founder of General Motors of Canada. Inspired by early 20th century Beaux-Arts design, this 15,000 square foot, 55-room mansion was built between 1915 and 1917. The art, architecture, gardens, landscaping and original furnishings are all faithfully preserved. See: https://www.parkwoodestate.com/

Next, at 12 noon, is lunch at One Eyed Jack Pub & Grill, 33 Taunton Rd W, Oshawa L1G 7B4. Order from their extensive menu with individual payment. See: https://www.oneeyedjackpub.com/oshawa

At 2:00 pm, following lunch, we will have a guided tour of the Canadian Automotive Museum, 99 Simcoe St. South, Oshawa L1H 4G7. The Canadian Automotive Museum has an eclectic collection of vehicles, specializing in cars made in Canada or formerly owned by famous Canadians. The collection is housed in an historic two storey building in downtown Oshawa that began life as a car dealership over a century ago. See: https://www.canadianautomotivemuseum.com/

Spouses, associate members and guests are welcome. Carpooling is encouraged. The discounted cost for both tours is $29.00 per person. Payment details can be found on the registration page.

Registration closes Thursday, October 9th at 12 midnight.
